Morning FAT BURING green smoothie

Good morning friends!

So I decided to post a fat BURING smoothie in another post instead of in addition to my 25 Minute Workout post because I wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to see it, even if they didn’t read that post.

So let’s get started,

Things you’ll need:
A blender
2 cups of ice
2 cups of spinach leaves
2-3 tablespoons avocado
20 green grapes (about 2 cups)
1 ripe pear or kiwi (chopped/peeled for either)
2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
3/4 Cup fat free Greek yogurt (I use plain)

Add ingredients into blender and blend blend blend until desired consistency.

Keep refrigerated for up to 2 days and shake or reblend before reusing.

Under 300 calories based on ingredients I used or just download the calorie counter app and plug in your own ingredients!

Simple 25 minute workout

So some mornings when I just don’t feel like going to the gym or busting out the weights, I like to do some simple cardio and core workouts!
It’s more of an all over body workout but I usually try to target one area a bit more than the others and change it everyday as to not wear myself out.

So let’s get started,
I start out my day with a Fat Burning Green Smoothiethen I hop right into this work out

5 minutes of stretching – I like to be pretty thorough with this and usually do dance stretches which I will demonstrate for you in a future post

30 Jumping jacks
7 push ups
10 squats
15 crunches
1 minute wall sit
30 second plank
30 jumping jacks
5 push-ups
7 squats
15 crunches

30 second break

10 crunches
25 squats
15 sit-ups
(This will change daily after a week, so I will post that soon and link it here;)

Water and 30 second break

30 jumping jacks
5 push-ups
7 squats
15 crunches
1 minute plank
30 sec wall sit
30 jumping jacks
7 push ups
5 squats
10 crunches

Be sure to completely stretch out AFTER your workout and eat something WITHIN 30 minutes, whether it be a hand full of almonds, a banana or veggies just eat SOMETHING!

Peanut butter oatmeal BREAKFAST COOKIES

Oh me oh my… Cookies for breakfast? Um yes, please and thanks! So I make sure I do not eat the same thing daily and I also try to keep it relatively fun in the mornings. Shakes and cookies, well how much more fun can it get?

Breakfast cookies

1/2 Natural Peanut butter (I use crunchy)
1 1/4C Rolled Oats (I use GF)
1C Craisins (or your choice dried fruit)
1C Apple Sauce
2Tsp Vanilla abstract
1Tbs Honey
1/2Tsp Sea Salt
2Tbs protein powder (I use cinnamon whey,optional)
1/2C Dark Chocolate Chips (optional)
1/2C Almonds or Walnuts (optional)

Yields about a dozen cookies

Preheat oven to 350
Line baking pan with parchment paper
Mix together the honey, vanilla, applesauce and peanut butter (by hand with wisk is fine)
Add Oats, Dried fruit, Nuts, sea salt and protein powder
Mix with spoon until nicely coated

Drop spoonfuls onto baking pan (I use 1/8c scoops) and bake for 12-15 minutes then remove from oven and let cool on pan

Cranberry Oatmeal Walnut Cookies w/Vegan Alternative

Low Cal
Oatmeal Cranberry Walnut cookies (:
With Vegan alternative ❀️

3 cups of Rolled Oats
1 1/2 Cups Oat Flour (Soy or baking flour)
5 Cups Walnuts (or less, your choice of nuts)
2 Cups Cranberries (or your choice of dried fruit)
2 tbs cinnamon (or 1/2tbs all spice)
1/2 tbs nutmeg
1 tbs Vanilla abstract
1/2 Tsp Salt
1 tsp baking soda
*2 Eggs
*1 Cup Softened butter
1 Cup packed Brown sugar
*1/3 Cup Truvia (no calorie sweetener or regular white GRANULATED sugar)
Instead of brown sugar- 1 5/8 Cup Truvia/ No Cal Sweetener
Instead of eggs and butter- 1 2/3 Cup Applesauce (or 2 1/4Tbs Soy flour + 2 tbs water and 1 Cup apple sauce) or just use natural butter

Yields about 3 dozen cookies

Pre heat oven to 350 and line baking pan with parchment paper

Mix butter and sugar with electric mixer until mixed
Add in eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, and nutmegmix for about a minute with electric mixer
Then add oats, walnuts and cranberries and mix by hand

Drop in spoonfuls (I use a 1/8cup scoop) then flatten

Bake for about 12 minutes or until golden brown let cool on pan for 3 minutes then move to rack

Store in airtight container once cooled and should be good for a week or two (they never last that long in my house)


Simple Chocolate Cake Recipe

So in trying to make a semi healthy brownie, I messed up somewhere and got this delicious chocolate miracle!
Now when I first made this, I did NOT add a cup of boiling water but after looking up how to make brownies more fluffy, it was water or milk. Being a stickler for calories I found myself opting for the water option, also I tried it with warm milk and even extra milk and I wouldn’t recommend it😝

3/4 Cup Cocoa Powder
1 3/4 C All purpose flour (I used 1C oat flour 3/4 cup APF)
2 C White Sugar (granulated, I used Truvia)
1 1/2tsp Baking soda
1 1/2tsp baking powder
1tsp Salt
2 Eggs (I used 1 egg, 1/4C Applesauce)
1/2 Vegetable Oil (I used 1/4c, 1/4c Applesauce)
1c Milk (I used almond)
2 tsp Vanilla
1c Boiling Water

Preheat over to 350
Grease TWO 9″ cake pans (bake 30-35 mins) or one 9×13″ (bake 45 minutes)

Combine DRY ingredients, add WET Ingredients and mix with ELECTRIC MIXER for 3MINUTES

Pour in BOILING WATER and mix by hand, it’ll be runny but turn out delicious

Pour evenly, Bake for time specified above or until toothpick comes out clean, let sit in pan for a little while then cut, serve and enjoy ❀️

No need for frosting but if you’d like you can add whatever your fav is πŸ˜‰

Green Smoothie and Chicken Tortilla Soup

So I know I am a bit late with this but that’s mostly because I had to test a bunch of delicious recipes I’ve been saving up these past years to see which ones I think are still perfect for the season!

I first came up with a simple smoothie that I enjoy regularly and feel like it’s completely satisfying and helps get my day started on a healthy track! It’s pretty customizable, amazingly refreshing, vegan and vegetarian friendly, and super quick!

Green smoothie
1 cup kale chopped
1 cup baby spinach
1/4 cucumber (or avocad) chopped
1/2 kiwi (optional)
1/2 ripe banana
1 1/2 fruit juice without added sugar (orange or pineapple are best)
1-2 cups of ice (optional for thicker smoothie)

Blend on high until smooth (1-2 mins) then serve!

Although you may be thinking “soup in the spring, no way it’s too hot” and you might think you’re right, but you’re not. This tortilla soup is great all the time and if you are busy like me, this can also be thrown in the crockpot and will leave you leftover to freeze (yeah right) or save for later in the week! Also, just omit the chicken for a veggie friendly option.

1-2 Lbs Boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or rotisserie chicken for quicker stovetop cooking)
2 (15oz) cans of black beans, rinsed
1 (15oz) can of sweet corn, drained
1 (15oz) can refried beans
4 cups chicken broth (I use Swanson low sodium or you can use veggie broth)
2 tsp Ground Cumin
2 tsp Chili powder
1 tsp garlic salt (or 1 glove minced)
1 tsp onion powder (or 1 tbs minced white onion)
2 tsp Crushed red peppers
1 (10oz) can of red enchilada sauce (optional but totally amazing)

1 can Rotel tomatoes (or 1 cup chopped tomatoes)
1 cup chopped mushrooms

Or really add, leave out, anything you don’t like from this recipe
It’s completely customizable!

Crockpot method
Put the RAW chicken breast in first, then all ingredients on top, add about 2 cups of water to the mixture and set on low heat for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 4 then simply shred the chicken with a fork (should be falling apart anyways) and give it all a good stir and let sit for about 15 minutes!

Stovetop method
Place COOKED shredded chicken and all other ingredients into pot (add water if needed for a more soup like consistency)
bring to a rolling boil stirring occasionally then lower heat to a simmer
cover and let cook for 45mins to an hour
Remove from heat, stir and let sit covered for 15 mins then serve

Serve with tortilla strips, avocado slices, sour cream or cheese and a squeeze of fresh lime juice!

Easy tortilla strip instructions

Preheat oven to 375
Grab some corn tortillas
cut corn tortillas into 1/4 inch strips
lightly coat in olive oil (or if using seasoning, mix oil and seasoning together first) and place in single layers on baking sheet in over for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown

Weekly fitness challenge

Good morning/afternoon/evening, Friends!!

This weeks simple fitness challenge will be to get your blood pumping at least 4 times a day, EVERYDAY!

Try this, every time you go into the washroom, do 20-40 Standing calve raises. This is something everyone can do wether they are at work or at home, it is especially great if have a desk job and need to get some circulation going in those antsy legs of yours!

This weeks simple healthy choice challenge is to make one fruit/veggie snack choice a day, what I mean by that is to opt for a fruit or vegetable INSTEAD of your usual snack or side. So basically if you usually eat chips, grab some almonds and an apple or banana.

Want a bit more of a challenge?
Add 25-40 jumping jacks to your calve raises, this won’t give you too much of a sweat but you will feel so much more awake throughout your day.

Try eating the majority of your carbs at night. What? At night? Well yes of course at night. It’s broscience, you’re probably thinking that’s insane but please do read the article. I have done even more extensive research on this and would be happy to link that all below but I figured if you’re like me, and hate reading 30 pages of scientific mumbo-jumbo, you’d appreciate the simplicity that is bodybuilder friendly science πŸ˜‰

Sample for the NEW Popped Chex Mix

Omgosh! So I got a pretty cool sized box in the mail today, had no idea what it was so of course, instead of looking at the “sent” address I just stab the sucker open with scissors, I was a bit excited, and to my shock it was two FULL SIZE bags of my favorite thing in the world, FOOD!!
I totally forgot about my Klout account and that I was being sent a sample by Chex Mix to test out.
In the box I received a card saying

These bags are awesome looking, one says Chex Mix Popped in White Cheddar and one is Chex Mix Popped in Sweet & Salty! Holy cannoli I am excited to put these in my mouth.
Also, I am not sure when these will be available for purchase or if they already are, I haven’t seem them but I honestly don’t know! So be on the lookout if you like what you see πŸ˜‰

What is it?
Well it is “The best of both snacks!” Part Chex Mix. Part Popcorn. Totally Delicious. -their words, not mine… Yet :p
In bold letters is says 60% less fat than regular potato chips for the Sweet & Salty just 11g of fat per 31g serving and 50% less for the White Cheddar
which is just 9g fat per 27g serving. So I’m gathering I shouldn’t eat the whole bag or I might start wheezing going up my stairs (I only have like 5) but yeah… Darn… I mean I’ll still eat the whole bags but I’m assuming I shouldn’t do that all at once… Even though I am about to watch Degrassi and GOT so I will do that anyways… Haha

Taste Test
Sweet & Salty dang this stuff is great, caramel popcorn, regular salted popcorn, mini pretzels and of course Chex Mix square cereal pieces!! Yum! Great combo of flavors, nothing too over powering and the “salted caramel” taste is my fav this season so I’m loving the bursts of that I’m getting. Not too salty, scouts honor, I dislike salt so if it were salted even a smidgen more I’d be over it. Overall, yes, I would recommend this for purchase!


White Cheddar
So I’ll admit I am completely biased and partial to the Cheddar, I love cheese… It’s ridiculous but I do tend to put cheese on EVERYTHING, except my morning cereal and fruits. Sooo this bag of goodness is most certainly my favorite of the two! It has Cheddar Popcorn, Chex Mix cereal squares AND Cheddar Cheese triangles!!! Yum! Those are my fav from their Cheddar Chex Mix snacks so I not surprised they put them in here! Now I can’t tell of the Chex are cheddar also or if it rubbed off on them but they are cheesey and delicious. I will admit it is a bit salty for a cheddar bag but the cheese factor does help with that. All in all I do recommended purchasing this bag of treats!
